My wife, Joanne, read this interesting article which she found in the China Press to me.
According to the article, before marriage, a lot of females tend to put importance on their appearance in order to attract more males.
But as time gets along, usually after marriage and having a few children, the females will no longer put importance into their appearance.
They will give all kind of excuses saying :
1) The fat due to hormonal changes after few pregnantcies.
2) No time to put on make up due to attending to house chores and children.
3) No longer emphasise on the clothings because want to help the husband to save money.
So, as time gets along, the husband will do well in his career and turns up into a dragon.
Unfortunately, the female is no longer attractive to the husband. As the husband has better income and status, the husband will feel that the wife is lagging far away in terms of attractiveness, social status, etc.
So, this is one of the reason why so many husbands tend to stray.
According to this article, it is very important for the females to be a phoenix before the husband turn into a dragon. This will prevent the husband from straying around.

Something Special Will Always Win The Hearts of People
An inspirational encounter with a rickshaw driver in Mumbai
This article is doing its rounds on email and I thought it was ideal to put it here. This is by Mr. Suvendhu Roy of Titan Industries
Last Sunday, my wife, kid and I had to travel to Andheri from Bandra. When I waved at a passing auto rickshaw little did I expect that this ride would be any different.
As we set off, my eyes fell on a few magazines (kept in an aircraft style pouch) behind the driver’s back rest. I looked in front and there was a small TV. The driver had put on the Doordarshan channel.. My wife and I looked at each other with disbelief and amusement. In front of me was a small first-aid box with cotton, dettol and some medicines. This was enough for me to realise that I was in a special vehicle. Then I looked round again, and discovered more – there was a radio, fire extinguisher, wall clock, calendar, and pictures and symbols of all faiths – from Islam and Christianity to Buddhism, Hinduism and Sikhism. There were also pictures of the heroes of 26/11- Kamte, Salaskar, Karkare and Unnikrishnan.
I realised that not only my vehicle, but also my driver was special. I started chatting with him and the initial sense of ridicule and disbelief gradually diminished. I gathered that he had been driving an auto rickshaw for the past 8-9 years; he had lost his job when his employer’s plastic company was shut down. He had two school-going children, and he drove from 8 in the morning till 10 at night. No break unless he was unwell. “Sahab, ghar mein baith ke TV dekh kar kya faida? Do paisa income karega toh future mein kaam aayega.”
We realised that we had come across a man who represents Mumbai – the spirit of work, the spirit of travel and the spirit of excelling in life. I asked him whether he does anything else as I figured that he did not have too much spare time. He said that he goes to an old age home for women in Andheri once a week or whenever he has some extra income, where he donates toothbrushes, toothpastes, soap, hair oil, and other items of daily use. He pointed out to a painted message below the meter that read: “25 per cent discount on metered fare for the handicapped. Free rides for blind passengers up to Rs50″.
My wife and I were struck with awe. The man was a HERO! A hero who deserves all our respect. Our journey came to an end; 45 minutes of a lesson in humility, selflessness and of a hero-worshipping Mumbai-my temporary home. We disembarked, and all I could do was to pay him a tip that would hardly cover a free ride for a blind man.
I hope, one day, you too have a chance to meet Mr Sandeep Bachhe in his autorickshaw MH-02-Z-8508
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is something we ought to learn from Mr Sandeep Bachhe.
First of all, no matter which profession we are in, it is very important that we always put in the heart to do and provide something special, be it service or product. From what Mr Sandeep did on to his rickshaw for example by providing magazines, tv, first aid box, fire extinguisher, etc. is really something extraordinaire to be learnt from.
This is what I call it as putting in the heart to do something that is by putting in the brain to be more creative to provide something special.
With a meagre income, Mr Sandeep has to work more than 12 hours a day. He did not complain but yet he has a big heart for providing special prices for the handicapped.
He is striving so hard to live but yet he still manage to donate part of his income for charity. This is something we should learn.

A Strongly Recommended Book To Read : The Secret by Rhonda Byrne
After finishing reading the book, The Secret, I decided to write in the blog about this book. This is also one of the best book which I ever read. So, I decided to write about it.
All the while, I read two books which influenced my life greatly are Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus by John Gray and also The Seven Habits of Successful People by Stephen Covey.
Ms Amanda Lai, Joanne’s boss even asked her employees to read this book. Initially I was quite reluctant to buy this book. But after for a while, I manage to buy the book. This book did not really arouse my interest. So, after buying it, I put it in the book shelf.
Of late, I started the reading habit again. After reading Dale Carnegie’s , I thought I must read The Secret.
While reading through the book, I was so greatly amazed by the content of the book. I started to practise some of the skills thought.
I was so influenced by the book that I thought I should buy the dvd as well. When I went to the bookstore, I got a shocked. The price of the book is RM135.00. Initially, I was quite reluctant to buy it as it is very expensive. But after thinking for a while, I decided to buy the dvd because I believe that the dvd can help me as much as the book.
After watching through the dvd, I found that the content of the dvd is actually the same as the book. But then I found that it is better to read to book for it is easier to understand.
From this book The Secret, I really found a lot of advantages by practising and applying what have been taught from this book.
My financial suddenly getting better and better. I was able to pay all my house and car instalments on time. I have even cleared up all my credit card and closed the credit card account. I found that while taking tour groups I started to earn more money and money comes to me easily as well.
I even started to learn and practice to meditate. I will try to meditate twice a day and for about 10 to 15 minutes a day. I found that my health is getting so much better and I even have better concentration.
As for my health, I will go to the gymnasium whenever I can find the time. Ever since I go to the gym, I have built up my confidence and stamina tremendously.
Even though all the while I was having good relationship with my wife, Joanne and my kids, after reading the book, I found that my relationship with them is even better.
Ever since practising the Secret, I really found lots of fulfilment in my life. I really felt that I am more organised and also do things which I like.
The book by The Secret by Rhonda Byrne has indeed influenced me greatly and I certainly encourage any one to read this book and get the benefits from this book.
While I was reading this book, I keep on reminding myself that I should read this book again and again till I fully understand the contents of the book. Now, I am on my way reading this book for the second time and I am also writing down the important notes from this book.

Habit of Writing And Recording Notes
During the month of May, 2009, it was a very quiet season for me due to the H1N1 crisis. Its very lucky that I was called up by Tekkee to be a translator at the Trade Ministry for the Chinese businessmen who are keen to set up business in Malaysia.
I was at the ministry and be a translator for only 1hour. Later, one of the businessman, requested me to be his driver using my car to places he wanted to go.
While I was driving him around, the Chinese man will occasionally asked questions about Malaysia. I noticed that he has a habit of writing and recording of I mentioned to him. I found that this is very good habit and tell myself that I should build up this habit on my own too.
Ever since that encounter, I will try to note down which ever I feel that is important for me.
From that day onwards, I will write reminders or any plans on the following day which I should do.
One good example of this habit is when I was trying to get the modem connection from Maxis. I was called by a guy from Maxis broadband by the name of Ang offering me the broadband service. The offer is by paying extra RM28 per month, I will be able to surf on a new line and I will also get a modem for free.
I thought this is a very good offer. Since Joanne has just bought a new notebook and she might need it. I could not asked Joanne as she was on tour. So I told And to call me back next week. After waiting for more than a week, Ang never called. I called up Maxis centre to reach to Ang. I left message for him to call back.
After waiting for another week and there is no phone call from Ang. So, I decided to write to Maxis to lodge a complaint. Immediately the next day, I received a phone call from Maxis by a gal Anusha.
I immediately note down her name and her direct phone line. She promised to deliver the modem to me in a week time but after waiting for 2 weeks finally I managed to receive the modem.
Because of writing her name, I am able to refer to her whenever I need her service for the broadband.

To Love And To Cherish

To love and to cherish
SUNDAY WITH T.SELVA
The secret recipe for a happy and harmonious partnership is effective and frequent two-way communication.
LEARNING to adjust and compromise is an art of happy living because almost every moment we are faced with situations that require a give and take approach.
It is not a question of whether we like it or not but such conditions are bound to occur due to the complex and fast lifestyle most of us are involved with daily.
Fighting or challenging such situations will not take us anywhere other than to sour our relationships at home or work and resulting in developing hatred, anger, stress and tension.
Some people have a wrong notion that adjusting and compromising is a sign of weakness but it is actually not.
Instead it reflects on the individual’s wisdom, maturity and understanding of being able to see what others can’t.
Such act is in fact viewed as noble and dignified.
I write this week’s column following news from two couples from Penang who have stopped talking with their spouses owing to some differences and they are now planning to go separate ways.
This is a worrying trend because last year about 20% of registered marriages in the country ended in divorce.
No two individuals are the same and it is not unnatural to find two persons having different interests, likings, hobbies, past-times, routines and knowledge.
Owing to this, sometimes such differences may interfere with their relationship and some hiccups are bound to happen but making up quickly and emerging stronger with improved ties is vital here.
The secret recipe for a happy and harmonious partnership is exercising words like compromise and adjust, and adulation and sweetness of speech.
Removing ego and showing respect for each other is another crucial aspect to the success of a relationship.
Every relationship has to pass through good and bad times but what is important is standing by each other through tough times because such test is to strengthen the vow the couple have made to be together.
Effective and frequent two-way communication verbal or written have been found since ancient time to be the key to the success of this bonding because it helps in understanding the dynamics of each other and prevents conflicts and misunderstandings.
A good relationship depends on a combination of many things but top among them all is treating your spouse as your best friend and not taking him or her for granted just because both have made a lifelong commitment.
In a close buddy relationship, the love and affection continues to ignite and grow daily whenever they come in contact, thus leading to a healthy connection.
For instance, when a couple have something they don’t like about their partner, they should communicate it rather than just keeping it in their heart.
Of course, they should do so in a respectful way so as not to offend their partner.
People are often known to share funny stories with their life partner prior to their marriage but after the wedding, the hilarity disappears and this is not good.
Such openness and funny side of communication should apply forever because laughter is the invisible glue in a relationship.
Simple gestures of showing appreciation, having at least one meal together daily, having weekly or monthly time-out, remembering and celebrating events like birthdays, anniversaries and special events bring constant spark to a relationship.
One long-term activity that should be exercised by any couple is allocating quality time regularly for each other.
Investing time in a relationship is imperative as this exercise allows each other to discover themselves deeper for a compatible and loving association.
Trust is another ingredient because it allows both parties to feel secure and believe there is a future for their relationship.
Just like it takes two hands to clap, a good relationship involves both sides.
While one side can take initiative, it still requires the other side to make the relationship work and only by working together can this union reach its full potential.
I truly believe nobody is perfect but everyone can grow to improve and give their best but both sides must be willing to change.
Instead of blaming their partner when something goes wrong, they should look inside themselves to see if there is something they can change.
When both sides have this attitude, the relationship grows stronger and stronger.
Basically, building and maintaining a healthy marriage takes time and a lot of effort and it is a life long process.
With the day-to-day pressures of work, taking care of the children and household tasks, it can be easy to neglect to nurture our relationship and to take our mate for granted.
It is necessary to remind ourselves constantly about the importance of fostering a healthy and loving relationship which is the foundation to build a successful marriage every day.
Relationships cannot be built in a just day or two; it is a lifelong journey when two people decide to make a divine bond to be together.
■ T. Selva, The Star’s Sunday Metro editor, says that a good relationship blossoms when two people decide to share instead of trying to change each other.

Examination
Throughout my school life, I have never really been serious studying till when I am in my college life.
I still remember when I had 5A's for my std 5 exam, my dad was so happy that he is so proud to tell every customer who buy things from the shop. But too bad that I was too small then to understand why dad is so proud of me.
Then when I was in Form 3, I did quite well with my SRP by obtaining 4A's and able to go into Science1 stream. By this time dad isn't too proud of me.
When I was in Form 5, my SPM result is just average but I still manage to obtain aggregate 19 (Grade 1). By this time again dad just said I should have done better. Due to my poor performance in Science subjects, I was enrolled into Arts stream when I was in Form 6.
Parents been very supportive of me when it comes to studies. As long as I am willing to study, they are always willing to fork out the money to support me.
Through dad's friends recommendation, I was encouraged to do my A level at the Goon's institute rather than to study Form 6. So, I went to Petaling Jaya to do my A level.
Unfortunately at the Goon institute, the lecturers keep on changing. Feeling frustrated, I told my parents about it. They asked me if I wanted to come back to study Form 6. So, I went back again to study Form 6.
When studying Form 6, I was struggling with accounts. All the while I have been very poor with this subject. Worst is that the teacher who taught this subject is a real boring person. So, I totally let go this subject.
All the while during my secondary school days, I used to burn midnite oil when exam is approaching. I still remember that I used only 7 weeks to prepare for my SRP. As for SPM, I used 2 months to prepare for it.
When I said I prepare for the examination, I am very serious about it. I do not watch any TV programs at all nor do I go out to enjoy myself. I totally immerse myself in studying except for food, bath or going to the toilet.
But when I was in my Upper 6, even though I know I must use at least 3 months to prepare for the examination, I do not know why I always feel panic and do not know what to do. I just can't concentrate on my examination. Finally, I do not do well in my STPM.
Parents are very very disappointed with my STPM result. I was too shameful to produce my result to them. The moment I gave the result slip to my parents, I can see how disappointed in their face. I felt so bad that I do not know how to face them.
However, parents been supportive all the while. Through newspaper advertisement, I come across a new college for the hotel management course. I enrolled to the 4 year degree hotel management course.
When studying for the hotel course, I was always determined and keep on telling myself I should not disappoint my parents just like the STPM. So, I really keep track of all my subjects, doing all my assignments and update information for the course.
Whenever there is an examination, I will always try my very best to have the best result in any subjects. During any examinations, it is always either Stephanie or myself will have the best result.
And finally when it comes to the real final exam, I was fully prepared for it. I did very well for the exam with an honorable degree for it.
When the day comes on the announcement of the result, I was announced the best student. I was so happy that tears automatically flow down. I have never been such happy before that tears flow from my eyes. This is the very first time. And its very difficult to explain the happiness that I had. I keep on telling myself its really worth the effort throughout my 3 years for the course.
When studying for the hotel management course, one of my lecturer introduced to me the mind mapping technique by Lawrence Walter. I was amazed by the technique that I can study easily and remember facts easily as well.
So, as for examination, it is very important that we use the right technique to study. The best book for remembering facts and figures is by Tony Buzan. In fact, he is the creator of the mind mapping. He intoduces the usage of the left and right brain. With his technique, one can study easily.
During the SARS period where I was unemployed for nearly 3 months. This is the time I was introduced by my former Sunshine travel agent boss to take up the train the trainer course for Tony Buzan's memory course.
The Tony Buzan's memory course has the mind mapping, photographic memory, face and names memory, number memory and also how to remember poker cards.
By studying this course, it will definately help oneself in studies.

Treasure Life...
While I was taking a group of China tourists in Genting Highlands on the 1st October 2008, I met up with Sharon Chua. She told me that Alvin Ng's eldest son met with accident and was in coma.
The moment I heard about it, my body trembles. Why such a bad thing happen to Alvin's son?
I have a family and of course I understand well how Alvin's feeling is. I still remember after we celebrated Christmas 2007, and while ordering for supper, suddenly I recieved a phone call from my mom-in-law. She told us that Jia Chen is having a very high fever and saying that the floor can turn around.
Upon hearing this, we immediately rush back home. While driving back home, Joanne and I did not even speak a word. I am dead worried about Jia Chen because I am very sure it must be a real serious condition, or else my mom-in-law won't call us. I believe Joanne is in the same situation as I am really worry and praying for the safety of Jia Chen.
Upon reaching home, we immediately brought Jia Chen to visit the Pantai specialist centre. And its a real luck that Jia Chen is all right.
So, as a dad I can really feel and understand how Alvin gone through.
Very unfortunately, a week past and the worst news came that Alvin's son past away.
We went for his funeral from the first day. While we were there, I saw Alvin was crying. I immediately feel the trauma Alvin gone through. Its a very rare situation that you will be able to see a man guy like Alvin to cry openly. This really show how sad Alvin is.
We even went for the sent off to the colabarium and the next day we went for the ashes collection to be sent off to the Nilai memorial. Its a real bad situation to see every one in a sombre mood and tears keep on flowing.
At this time, I told Joanne that Alvin will know who his real friend is. True enough that those friends who have been helping around during the funeral till the very last day is true friend indeed.
Alvin's son dead because of motorbike accident at the age of 18.
I still remember very clearly when I was a teenager I was full of bravery and do not know what danger means.
There was once when I was only 15, and I did not even have the motor license, I borrowed 2nd uncle's motor to roam around. I don't really know the mechanical operation of the motor. I accidently pulled the oil too much and stepped on gear one. The motorbike immediately pick up and the front of motorbike flew up. Everyone there was screaming. Luckily I had a good control of the motorbike and nothing happen.
The second incident which I remember very clearly is that when I newly got the license and the new motorbike which was bought by dad. It was at night and I was on my way going back from town to home in Melaka. I was speeding. I want to overtake one of the cars. (At that time the Jalan Mata Kuching is not a highway) So, I just overtake but without changing the gear. (I do not really know that I must change the gear to a lower gear so that the motorbike will pick up better and faster). So, on the opposite side there is a car coming. Luckily that the car slowed down to let me undertake it and nothing happen. It is a real missed for me and that is why till this day I can remember it very clearly.
After I had my motorbike, I used to lie to parents that I will take a bus to KL. Out of bravery and adventurous, I rode the motorbike to KL instead. The reason why I rode to KL is because I love to be adventurous and also to learn the routes in KL.
There was once, while riding my motorbike to KL, suddenly the front tyre puntured. I was speeding at that time. I immediately slowed down and had a hard time controlling my motorbike. My motorbike was swerving like a snake. I was so lucky that I am able to control of the motorbike and there was no vehicle at that time. Or else, I will be in a very bad situation.
Due to this incident, from that day onwards, I dare not to ride motorbike to KL anymore.
So, from here, we should treasure our life greatly. Its during the teenage life that we have more bravery and adventurous than anyone. But please, remember, every move that you take always consider the loved ones around you will be worrying about you.
Don't let your loved ones grieved for you like Alvin's case. Please treasure life...
